U.S. Nationals | Invention Convention Worldwide

Typically hosted at the Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, Invention Convention U.S. Nationals invites students inventors to compete at the national level. An affiliate of Invention Convention Worldwide, K-12 InVenture Prize reserves a number of spots to invite select student teams from State Finals to represent Georgia at the U.S. Nationals competition. Students, parents, and teachers are responsible for travel arrangements and costs incurred during travel.

Our team at K-12 InVenture Prize typically holds a virtual information session to cover details about what student teams need for registration and the competition itself. Students, parents, and teachers may expect to receive competition and travel details from Invention Convention Worldwide in April or May.

When do student teams find out whether or not they are invited to compete?

Student teams are typically sent an invitation late March or early April. Teams must accept or decline their invitation within two weeks of notification. This ensures that the program can send alternate representatives and fulfill the number of seats allocated to the State of Georgia.

If invited, why compete?

Invention Convention U.S. Nationals is a unique multi-day experience for students to present their invention to educational and industry expert judges as well as other student inventors across the country! Qualifying inventions are eligible for industry awards, patent application awards, cash prizes, and scholarships. During their free time, students and guests can also explore the venues of The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village, which showcase the history of American invention.

How much does it cost to participate?

For the 2024 Invention Convention U.S. Nationals competition, registration costs $335 per inventor, $360 per guest (parent, sibling, guest, other); children 4 and under are free. Registration covers admittance to The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Registered inventors receive all meals while guests receive select meals during the event.

Inventors and guests are responsible for their travel and hotel. Invention Convention Worldwide offer official event hotels, which provide transportation to and from The Henry Ford. Some families travel via car (approx. 11 hour drive from Georgia Tech) while others via flight (approx. 2 hour direct flight).

What do students need to compete?

All student inventors must bring a complete logbook, display board, prototype (if available), and prepared presentation.
