On March 11, Georgia Tech’s Exhibition Hall will welcome hundreds of young inventors from across the state, who will present their designs for judging and compete for a slot at the RTX Invention Convention U.S. Nationals in June. The 12th annual Georgia Tech K-12 InVenture Prize State Finals competition will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The press is welcome to attend and interview students, teachers, and judges starting at 1:30 p.m. An awards ceremony will take place at 4 p.m., where student inventors will be singled out for honors in various categories.
Some of the student inventions in this year’s competition include:
- a project that turns kudzu vine into a renewable fuel source;
- a language translator bracelet;
- Neuro Note, an early dementia prediction app;
- a 3D-printed prosthetic leg;
- Chicken Poop Remover, an innovative tool for cleaning chicken coops; and
- an app to track stray pets on the loose.
The event is a great opportunity to capture photos and video of students presenting their inventions and explaining their ideas to a panel of judges.
“As always, State Finals will be an amazing opportunity to see young student inventors and entrepreneurs,” said Danyelle Larkin, director of K-12 InVenture Prize. “We see our students working on projects that address some of the most important issues facing society. We have lots of returning students who keep refining their inventions with more and more expertise and advanced knowledge of materials and chemical processes. We are seeing younger and younger students with great ideas of their own, trying to solve the problems they see in their lives. This is truly such an amazing celebration with our students, their teachers, families, and friends.”
