The K-12 InVenture Prize competition takes place during the academic year, beginning in August with School Registration and running through March for State Finals. Register online for your school to participate in this year's K-12 InVenture Prize program. Each participating school is required to complete one School Registration, which covers all participating teachers and students at that school.
School Registration informs our team of who is participating in this year's K-12 InVenture Prize in order to plan program and event logistics. Registration costs $100.00 per school and ensures your eligibility to participate in the program and access the K-12 InVenture Prize curriculum and IronCAD license.

Who completes School Registration?
We recommend each school designate one of their participating teachers as the primary teacher or point of contact. The primary teacher will collect information from each participating teacher at the school and submit the online School Registration form.
How much does School Registration cost?
The School Registration fee costs $100.00 per school. The fee covers all participating teachers from that school and ensures your eligibility to participate in the program and access the K-12 InVenture Prize curriculum and IronCAD licenses.
Our online registration portal secures payment through credit card via American Express, Discover, JCB, Mastercard, and Visa. Email any inquiries regarding payment to k12inventure@gatech.edu.

What is the purpose of School Registration?
School Registration informs our team of who is participating in this year's K-12 InVenture Prize in order to plan program and event logistics.
The demographic information of participating students informs our team of our program's reach and impact. One of our missions is to advocate for and leads systemic changes to increase STEM interest and achievement for all students, especially those underrepresented in STEM. The demographic information you provide will be used for statistical reporting purposes only.
Where do I complete School Registration?
The K-12 InVenture Prize program uses Marketplace through epay.gatech.edu. Marketplace offers a secure, online e-commerce environment for registrations requiring payment by credit card.
How do I register more than three additional teachers at my school?
Email us at k12inventure@gatech.edu if there are more than three additional teachers who want to participate in the program. Though the online form supports the registration of up to three additional teachers, our team will gladly accommodate for more participating teachers at your school.

Why is Parental Consent required?

Parents and guardians are important partners in this effort, and should:
- Review youth program materials and select programs that are appropriate for your student.
- Completely and accurately fill out all registration forms.
- Discuss appropriate behaviors with your student before the program begins.
- Inform program staff of any concerns or special needs of your student.
- Report any concerns promptly to the program staff.

Parental Consent forms will be available on the Ideal-Logic portal for parents to review, sign, and grant permission for their student(s) to participate in the K-12 InVenture Prize events.

Asynchronous Judging
Pitch an Idea during Mock Pitch is an optional but highly recommended K-12 InVenture Prize event designed to provide student teams preliminary feedback. Students create a short elevator pitch video for current Georgia Tech students, faculty/staff, and industry experts to evaluate and provide constructive feedback about the invention design and concept. After the judging period, teachers may expect to receive judges' feedback for each participating team.
Intended as a part of the invention design and iteration process, students do not need a completed project or prototype to participate in Mock Pitch. Participation in Mock Pitch is optional but highly recommended.
Why should we participate in Mock Pitch?
Mock Pitch is an opportunity for students to (a) develop their presentation and communication skills, (b) practice pitching for the competition, and (c) receive feedback for their project. Student teams record and upload an elevator pitch video for judges to evaluate and provide constructive feedback to help students with their design concepts.
The Mock Pitch competition event engages students in the design process as they determine how their feedback may guide the next iteration of their invention.
When are the deadlines to participate?
Teachers and/or students must submit their project description and video through the RocketJudge platform by Sunday, November 10.
Judges may judge student projects anytime between Monday, November 18 through Wednesday, December 04 on the RocketJudge platform.
Prior to submitting, we recommend teachers collect all their student teams' project information and video URLs to streamline the online submission process.

How much does it cost to participate in Mock Pitch?
Participation in the Mock Pitch event is covered under School Registration. There are no additional fees or cost to participate.
What should students expect from Mock Pitch feedback?
Mock Pitch judges use the K-12 InVenture Prize Rubric to evaluate student projects and are highly encouraged to leave comments for feedback. Students will receive scores in each category and possibly comments from each judge.
Mock Pitch Feedback Process:
- After Mock Pitch Judging, the K-12 InVenture Prize team will synthesize the scores and comments from judges and send feedback to teachers.
- Teachers will disseminate scores and feedback to each student team.
- Students are encouraged to carefully consider their scores and feedback from the judges and determine where to take the next iteration of their inventions.

Online Qualifier Judging
The K-12 InVenture Prize and its partners host qualifier events for student teams to compete amongst their peers and qualify for a spot at State Finals. The Qualifier event is a required event in which students must participate in any of the three qualifier events. The 2023-24 Qualifier events include the Savannah Qualifier, South Georgia Qualifier, and Online Qualifier. The Savannah and South Georgia Qualifier events will be in-person, while the Online Qualifier will be virtual.
Student teams must have a complete invention and be present for the entirety of the judging time frame. Any participating student may compete at one Qualifier event. Advancing teams from each qualifier will receive invitations to State Finals.

Which Qualifier event should we participate in?
Student teams in the participating counties of the Regional Qualifier events must participate in that qualifier. The Online Qualifier event serves student teams unable to participate in the Regional Qualifier events.
Student teams may only participate in one Qualifier event.
How much does participation in a Qualifier event cost?
Participation in the Qualifier event is covered under School Registration. There are no additional fees or cost to participate.
What is different about the Online Qualifier?
Student teams participating in the Online Qualifier event will showcase their developing inventions with through a recorded video presentation.
Online Qualifier Submission for student teams will open 01/30 and close 02/06. Online Qualifier Judging is conducted virtually and asynchronously between 02/12 and 02/16.

When are the judging time frames?
We are coordinating with our preferred judging company to assign each team an interviewing window. Currently, we do not have any guarantees to be able to assign your team a specific time slot as this is our pilot year scheduling interviews. Clarification will be provided throughout the year, and precise instructions will be emailed in January, leading to the event in February.
How will student teams know if they are invited to compete at State Finals?
Student teams moving forward in the competition will receive an invitation to the State Finals event at the end of February.
Do parents need to complete Parental Consent forms specifically for the Qualifier events?
No, the Spring Parental Consent forms cover K-12 InVenture Prize events that occur in the spring, such as Qualifier events* and State Finals. Parents should have already completed Parental Consent forms prior to any of the Qualifier events.

The K-12 InVenture Prize State Finals is an in-person field trip experience for student teams who advanced from the Online Qualifier and Regional Qualifiers. Only advancing student teams from one of the Qualifier events are invited to State Finals. Students must have a tri-board detailing their invention process, attend in person to present their invention and design process to judges in person, and may participate in activities at the event. Top teams in their division or specialty categories will receive prizes at the Awards Ceremony.
State Finals is typically held in the Exhibition Hall on Georgia Tech's Atlanta campus. Participating student teams must be accompanied by an adult for the care, custody, and/or control of the student. Students must be in the care and custody of their teacher, parent, or chaperone throughout the duration of the event. A detailed State Finals guide will be provided to all advancing teams with their invitation to attend.
How much does it cost to participate at State Finals?
Participation in State Finals will be announced at a later date.
What should we expect at State Finals?
The State Finals field trip experience is an all-day event.
A detailed State Finals Guide will be provided to all advancing teams with their invitations to attend State Finals. The guide will outline check-in procedures, parking, event location, and maps to navigate Georgia Tech’s campus and include the event schedule.
*State Finals participants and attendees are also invited to attend the televised broadcasting of the Georgia Tech InVenture Prize competition by Georgia Public Broadcasting.
